Erie County Medical Center Corporation Orders New Digital Medical Imaging Systems from Carestream Health

High-Quality Digital X-Ray Images Available In Seconds

ROCHESTER and BUFFALO, N.Y., July 29 — Erie County Medical Center Corporation of Buffalo, N.Y. has ordered two DIRECTVIEW DR 7500 Systems from Carestream Health, Inc., for its new digital Orthopaedic X-Ray Suite.

Erie County Medical Center Corporation (ECMC) is a nationally recognized regional center for trauma, burn, rehabilitation and cardiac care, and is also a major teaching facility for the University at Buffalo. The Department of Imaging Services provides state-of-the-art imaging services to more than 75,000 Western New Yorkers every year. ECMC acquired Carestream Health’s DR 7500 system through a locally-owned Western New York medical imaging distributor—GXC Imaging.

“The benefits of advanced digital medical imaging solutions are well proven. They improve productivity and lead to better care for our patients,” said Eric C. Gregor, MBA, RT, Administrative Director of Imaging Services at ECMC. “Our new DR systems also will facilitate more efficient acquisition, distribution and storage of patient medical images, which can help enhance communications among our clinical staff members.”

The DR 7500 system’s single- and dual-detector configurations offer outstanding flexibility for a wide variety of general radiography examinations—including trauma—with remarkable convenience, productivity and patient comfort. The DR 7500 also easily accommodates the integration of images captured with Carestream Health’s computed radiography systems already in use at ECMC. The company’s DIRECTVIEW Capture Link System integrates its DR and/or CR Systems to improve digital workflow and productivity in high-traffic areas when a patient study includes both CR and DR images.

“Our innovative digital medical imaging systems are designed to meet the ever increasing needs of a wide range of healthcare providers,” said Diana L. Nole, President, Digital Capture Solutions, Carestream Health. “We work with clinicians around the world to develop new features that deliver greater ease of use and productivity—as well as enhanced image quality—as part of our commitment to provide technology that can truly make a difference in patient care.”

Carestream Health offers several DR systems for patient x-ray exams, as well as a comprehensive family of single- and multi-cassette CR, tabletop, and mobile (Point-of-Care) systems. The company’s broad portfolio of CR and DR systems offers hospitals, imaging centers, orthopaedic practices and other healthcare providers with the latest in digital image capture for patient imaging studies.
