SAN FRANCISCO, May 20 — Carestream Health, Inc., showcased how its CARESTREAM PACS workstation can be used for visualization and analysis of volumetric MDCT data by successfully completing all clinical imaging exams within the allotted time period during the “Workstation Face-Off” at the International Symposium on Multidetector-Row CT held May 19 in San Francisco.
Hosted by the International Society of Computed Tomography (ISCT), the “Workstation Face-Off” challenged providers of advanced 3D image processing technologies to process and interpret three complex computed tomography (CT) imaging studies. This year’s studies included CT colonography, a cardiac case and assessment of liver lesions. Carestream Health was the only equipment provider to analyze all cases on its PACS workstation. The other providers used dedicated 3D processing stations or servers, some of which employed specialized processing hardware.
Radiologist Michalle Soudack, M.D., Head of Pediatric Radiology at the Edmond and Lily Safra Children’s Hospital in Israel, presented cases for Carestream Health during the event. “Carestream Health’s PACS environment with its native post-processing functionality delivers fully featured intuitive tools that allow for confident, efficient reading of routine and complex cases including lesion comparison applications and 3D studies from one workstation—the PACS workstation,” she said. “It saves me time, since I don’t need to move either the images or myself to a dedicated post-processing workstation.”
Carestream Health was one of the first in the industry to begin integrating disparate processing and image analysis tools onto its PACS workstations, which enhances efficiency, achieves cost savings and boosts user convenience. Workflow is streamlined since radiologists do not need to go to dedicated 3D workstations. In addition, the CARESTREAM PACS architecture enables 3D and other advanced features, along with its intuitive user interface, to be used on any workstation inside or outside the facility.
Advanced processing capabilities of the CARESTREAM PACS platform include: automatic abdominal and cardiac vessel segmentation capabilities; automatic registration of volumetric exams; MPR, MIP, MinIP, volume rendering, complete vessel analysis, cardiac application, virtual colonoscopy, PET-CT, mammography, and orthopedic-templating applications.
Additionally, CARESTREAM Cardiology PACS is available for departments that need a dedicated cardiology solution.
