RIS-PACS and DRX Imaging Systems Added to MAGNET Group Purchasing Agreement
ROCHESTER, N.Y., March 16 — Members of MAGNET, a major U.S. healthcare group purchasing organization, can now order CARESTREAM DRX-1, CARESTREAM DRX-Evolution systems and CARESTREAM RIS/PACS from Carestream Health, Inc. These products can help streamline overall imaging workflow, while simultaneously improving productivity for radiologists, clinicians and staff.
Hospitals, clinics and medical practices are already able to purchase radiographic film, laser printers, CR, DR and mammography CAD systems from Carestream Health through the existing agreement with MAGNET, which is the Mid-Atlantic Group Network of Shared Services.
“Adding these new products to our purchasing agreement illustrates our commitment to offering healthcare providers the latest technology available,” said Derwood Dunbar, MAGNET’s CEO. “The new DRX systems feature unmatched positioning flexibility and convenience through use of the industry’s first wireless, cassette-size detector. Carestream Health’s new RIS and PACS platforms offer advanced technology that our members will find both attractive and affordable.”
The CARESTREAM DRX-1 System features a cassette-size DR detector that fits into an existing table or wall stand Bucky and communicates images over a wireless network connection. It enables cost-effective conversion from film or CR imaging systems to highly productive DR technology—without replacing x-ray systems or renovating exam rooms.
“Our innovative and affordable products based on the DRX-1 detector will make it possible for many MAGNET facilities to implement DR for the first time. In addition, the scalability and cost effectiveness of our fully featured RIS/PACS will allow facilities of all sizes to improve their digital imaging workflow,” said Connie Pettijohn, Carestream Health’s Vice President, Corporate & Government Healthcare.
The DRX-Evolution system helps improve both productivity and patient care by matching the positioning flexibility of the DRX-1 detector with a fully automated suite of precision x-ray equipment. The need to move sick or injured patients around a fixed DR detector is eliminated. Instead the DRX-1 detector can be removed from the bucky tray for tabletop views, and the system’s wall stand can be positioned by the table for cross-table views. Images are transmitted over a wireless network and appear on the console in seconds.
The CARESTREAM RIS/PACS offers advanced features that can enhance productivity and streamline workflow in single- or multi-site enterprises, while helping healthcare providers deliver excellent patient care.
MAGNET’s shareholders include Joint Purchasing Corporation (JPC), Connecticut Hospital Association Shared Services Program (CHA SSP), Southwest Ohio Health Care Affiliates (SOHCA), Hospital Central Services Cooperation (HCSC), and Monmouth-Ocean Health Care Cooperative ( MONOC).
