ORLANDO, Feb. 21 — Carestream Health’s vendor-neutral CARESTREAM Clinical Data Archive (CDA) provides consolidated enterprise-wide storage with an architecture that simplifies IT administrative functions and can reduce costs. The Clinical Data Archive delivers a multi-tier repository for data stored using XDS, XDS-I, DICOM, and HL7 standards as well as non-DICOM objects. The company’s new archive was demonstrated at the annual Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) conference this week.
“Our Clinical Data Archive delivers compelling benefits including enhanced, secure data access across the enterprise and the ability to streamline clinical information lifecycle and EMR integration,” said Jeff McHugh, Sales Director, Healthcare Information Systems, US & Canada, Carestream Health. “The archive also addresses the need for healthcare providers to consolidate patient images and data to simplify management tasks and contain costs.”
The Clinical Data Archive is virtualized to allow sharing and consolidation of the storage infrastructure and to deliver precise, centralized data management. Data is available to users throughout the enterprise anytime, anywhere—regardless of the location of the data or the user.
The data repository adheres to the industry’s highest security standards. Numerous independent security mechanisms at various levels ensure data is accessed only by designated individuals. Additional mechanisms provide monitoring of security threats and protect the system from tampering.
The patient-centric archive offers a single access point to clinical images and other clinical information including imaging exams, video clips, laboratory results, biopsy results and other forms of patient data. Access can be gained through a web browser or existing EMR/HIS systems. Integration is supported through standard means and protocols.
Specialized toolsets equip the archive to efficiently manage multiple sites. These tools are built in a hierarchical manner, which allows viewing of the organization’s status starting from the top indicator levels (working or not) down to the most detailed logs and errors. These tools can minimize administrative costs by managing every aspect of the archive remotely, using powerful web-based interfaces.
This scalable, vendor-neutral archive can be implemented within single-site or multi-site environments. The same functionality is also available as a cloud-based service that is hosted and managed by Carestream Health.
