ROCHESTER, N.Y., July 11 — Carestream Health’s Todd Minnigh, Vice President of Global Service Sales, Global Customer Care Solutions, will give a presentation at the AHRA 2018 conference describing innovative ways to improve a company’s products or processes on Wednesday, July 25, from 8:30-9:30 a.m. in Osceola Room 1-3.
“As children we all ‘invented’ things only to discover later that our great idea already exists. To the child inventor, those ideas were truly original. This proves innovation and creation are within everyone. I believe we can all discover ways to improve products and services if there is a culture that encourages and rewards continuous innovation,” Mr. Minnigh explains.
Mr. Minnigh believes in creatively motivating employees to find new and better ways to perform a task or build a product. He created a special Innovation Award to inspire and recognize Carestream’s global field team. One recent recipient is a sales representative in Italy who developed a new service that tests DR system performance, rather than just selling tools for in-house testing. This analysis measures how well a system is functioning and documents the results, which can be very useful during a JCAHO audit or to determine if a system needs to be serviced. The new service offers a lower operational cost, which is more affordable than the capital cost for in-house testing tools.
Another employee created an application that enables a field engineer to send a request for the sales team to provide follow-up when equipment needs extensive service or replacement. “This is a fast and easy way to make sure that our customers’ systems deliver excellent diagnostic image quality and achieve performance that meets regulatory guidelines. This application is now used all over the world,” he said.
Mr. Minnigh also will discuss how to cross pollinate concepts and ideas from one product area to another application; how to identify existing challenges and evaluate diverse solutions; and how to maintain a positive attitude throughout the development process.
