MINNEAPOLIS, June 3 — Carestream Health, Inc., announced its latest PACS upgrade is available for order. The newest version of CARESTREAM PACS delivers two innovative productivity-enhancing features: automatic abdominal and cardiac vessel segmentation capabilities and a revolutionary new user interface. These new capabilities that help deliver higher clinician productivity and streamline radiology workflow were demonstrated at the Society for Imaging Informatics in Medicine (SIIM).
“We have worked very closely with our customers to design and develop a revolutionary user interface for our PACS that enables users to focus on analyzing diagnostic data, while greatly reducing the time spent activating functions and tools,” said Diana L. Nole, President, Digital Medical Solutions, Carestream Health. “These latest enhancements not only boost user productivity but also can help enhance patient care.”
The CARESTREAM PACS previously delivered semi-automated analysis for abdominal and cardiac vessel segmentation. The new automated features use algorithms to automatically locate relevant vessels and present results—such as the extent of blockage in a vessel or the size of aneurysm—to the clinician. The information is presented in a result layout that allows clinicians to easily accept or correct results or extend vessels. Clinicians can also elect to use manual or semi-automatic protocols when desired.
The new user interface provides thumbnail images for patient information and imaging studies to enable fast and easy selection of desired information and to help reduce or eliminate manual searching for relevant data.
The CARESTREAM PACS platform offers a host of efficiency-enhancing features including: a unified user interface; a global patient worklist; an innovative PowerViewer that can enhance both the diagnostic quality and speed of interpretations of volumetric imaging studies; and centralized storage and viewing of non-DICOM and DICOM data.
“The ability of the CARESTREAM PACS to automatically register volumetric exams is exceptionally powerful because it immediately provides side-by-side comparisons by precisely matching up the planes of the slices of current and prior exams. This innovative tool significantly enhances radiologists’ ability to detect changes in tumors and other anatomy,” said David Hirschorn, M.D., Director of Radiology Informatics, Staten Island University Hospital, Staten Island, N.Y. “This PACS platform also offers an advanced user interface that further enhances user convenience and reading efficiency.”
