ROCHESTER, N.Y., March 31 — Carestream Advanced Materials now offers an expanded sampling program for touch panel manufacturers interested in its new portfolio of transparent conductive films. The company launched FLEXX Transparent Conductive Films as a more flexible, durable and economical alternative to traditional indium tin oxide (ITO) films in late 2010.
Several leading manufacturers are currently evaluating FLEXX films. Positive results in those early evaluations have led to the development of an expanded sampling program. In addition to the sampling program, the new FLEXX films will be on display at the IDTechEx Printed Electronics and Photovoltaics European Conference, April 5-6, in Dusseldorf.
The sampling program for FLEXX films allows touch panel manufacturers to see first-hand how the new film transitions seamlessly in existing manufacturing processes. “Device manufacturers have been searching for an easy and affordable replacement for ITO,” said Bruno Merry, General Manager for Carestream Advanced Materials.
“Our innovative silver nanowire technology and solution-coated chemistry directly address the long standing limitations of ITO,” Merry said. “FLEXX films compare favorably to ITO’s consistent conductivity and optical quality, while outperforming them in terms of light transmission, flexibility, durability and environmental stability.”
FLEXX films are available in 100 and 300 ohms/square on 125- and 175-micron polyester film thickness, with optional clear 3H hard coat. Light transmission exceeds 87 percent with reflectivity less than 12 percent and durability of more than 1 million taps—characteristics not found in ITO films.
