ROCHESTER, N.Y., Nov. 13 — Erlanger Health System (Chattanooga, Tenn.) purchased a Carestream Vue RIS, five CARESTREAM DRX-Revolution Mobile X-ray Systems, five CARESTREAM DRX-1 Systems and an upgrade to its existing Vue PACS that includes the optional Vue Motion vendor-neutral image viewer. The large healthcare system includes five hospitals and four outpatient imaging locations.
“Carestream’s RIS delivers embedded voice recognition and advanced features that can improve our workflow. Upgrading our PACS will deliver enhanced tools for radiologists and allow viewing from remote locations, and our clinicians and referring physicians will be able to obtain mobile access to images and reports,” said Blaine Morris, Vice President of Clinical Services, Erlanger Health System.
Carestream RIS+PACS will be linked with Erlanger’s hospital information system for a fully integrated workflow that will help expedite the exchange of information within each hospital and throughout the healthcare system.
Morris adds that purchasing DRX systems was part of the healthcare system’s commitment to move from CR to DR technology. “This technology makes it possible for us to install new portable imaging systems and upgrade existing X-ray rooms from CR to DR technology,” he said.
Erlanger is currently installing DRX-Revolution and DRX-1 imaging systems. One CARESTREAM DRX-1 system will be installed in a general radiology room at each hospital. All five DRX-Revolution systems will be installed at the main Baroness campus to serve its Level 1 trauma center, 100-bed multi-specialty ICUs and provide mobile imaging for other inpatients.
Its RIS installation and PACS upgrade is scheduled to begin in early 2013.
