ROCHESTER, N.Y., Oct. 21 — Carestream Health will demonstrate advanced capabilities in digital radiography (DR) rooms at the upcoming Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) 2021 conference.
Carestream will highlight enhancements to its premium X-ray system, the DRX-Evolution Plus, which meets high-volume imaging needs of large hospitals, clinics and urgent care centers. Its new features include a smaller tubehead profile with a larger display, helping radiographers conduct exams with greater visibility. An upgraded tabletop provides more range, making it easier and more comfortable for patients to undergo an exam. Functional LED lighting in several locations changes color as a patient exam progresses.
“Since its launch, the DRX-Evolution Plus has set a benchmark for X-ray room imaging performance. With its modular design and new features, this state-of-the-art DR room helps radiographers easily monitor the exam process from patient positioning through image capture,” said Jing Chu, Worldwide Product Marketing Manager at Carestream. “These enhancements not only accommodate patients of varying sizes, but also result in improved workflow. Radiographers are able to perform exams faster and with greater ease.”
“The DRX-Evolution Plus offers a modular design to fit a facility’s unique space, workflow and budget,” Ms. Chu added. “It mitigates technology obsolescence by growing with a facility’s needs.”
Targeting mid-tier hospitals and medical imaging centers, Carestream’s upgrade-friendly DRX-Compass X-ray System also adapts to a facility’s requirements. The system, on display at RSNA 2021, now offers an affordable floor-mount option, delivering an innovative, flexible and efficient medical imaging solution to sites that are unable to accommodate an overhead tube crane.
The DRX-Compass includes advanced features and options such as vertical auto-tracking and auto-centering, as well as an optional tilting wall stand to support a wide range of exams. Its auto long-length imaging option is especially useful for patients who have trouble standing or young children who are unable to hold still for long periods of time.
“The DRX-Compass is well-suited to serve as a bridge for healthcare facilities that are considering a shift from an analog or retrofitted X-ray room to a digital one,” Ms. Chu said. “Facilities can select components based on space requirements for specific locations. This is another example of how Carestream incorporates customer feedback into its solutions.”
Both digital X-ray rooms can transform into Smart Rooms utilizing artificial intelligence (AI). Carestream’s AI features are powered by Eclipse—the engine behind the company’s cutting-edge imaging software platforms—that uses proprietary algorithms and AI to amplify the value of the entire imaging chain. Optional Smart Room features automatically position equipment, adjust collimation and technique, and provide patient positioning feedback to help improve radiographer productivity, provide consistent imaging and enrich patient care.
Imaging facilities can add Smart Noise Cancellation (SNC) to the DRX-Evolution Plus. SNC is an optional software feature that provides improved anatomical clarity, preservation of fine detail and better contrast-to-noise ratio for images acquired at a broad range of exposures. It also enables customers to lower radiation dose without loss in image quality when compared to our standard image processing.
