New Radiology Image Challenge!
Reading Time: 1 minute read
To end 2010 on a high note we’re offering up another round of our radiology image contest, and in the holiday spirit we’re including 2 images this time!
We welcome radiologists, technologists, RAs, MDs, PAs – or anyone who thinks they’re up to the challenge – to guess either subject in this educational x-ray quiz. Those who guess correctly will win an Everything Rad coffee mug – sure to be on everyone’s holiday gift list!

The first I cannot guess.
The second could be Berry Aneurysm?
I am not a radiologist.
Gary Simpson
The first one could be a hose clamp of some sort? The second a leaf?
Alexander Schumm
The first one apparently is a wooden (soldier type) traditional nutcracker, lateral view, pictured from mandibula to the sternum. The shoulder joints can be seen as well. The mandibular joint apparently is of normal appearance – he is ready to crack (up).
The second one looks like some branches of a poinsettia (Euphorbia pulcherrima) to me.
Alexander Schumm
Addendum:
Got the anatomy wrong on the first one: actally the volume ranges down to the hips. However the diagnosis remains as is.
